PROJECT OBJECTIVE
ZENES is undertaking technical consultancy and project management responsibilities for the modernisation of an existing foundry serving defence industry applications. The work focuses on developing melting and mould preparation infrastructure, assessing suitable equipment options and coordinating procurement activities.
Modernising an existing foundry involves more than replacing individual machines. The compatibility of new equipment with the facility, connections between production stages and implementation responsibilities must be considered together.
TECHNICAL SCOPE
Induction melting systems: Technical assessment of furnace options and associated auxiliary systems against production requirements.
Resin-bonded sand preparation equipment: Assessment of mixers and related equipment used in mould preparation.
Aluminium casting systems: Evaluation of equipment options for aluminium production requirements and their inclusion in the project scope.
Integration with the existing facility: Consideration of equipment layout, utility requirements and connections with other production stages.
ZENES’S ROLE IN THE PROJECT
ZENES’s approach centres on defining requirements, evaluating suitable equipment options and coordinating technical communication between the customer and manufacturers.
Translating production needs into technical equipment requirements, assessing sourcing alternatives and comparing offers on an equivalent basis are central to this approach.
Technical offers are reviewed in terms of main equipment, auxiliary systems, supply boundaries and implementation requirements. Technical questions and the responsibilities of the parties are clarified, while preparations for implementation, installation and commissioning are coordinated within the agreed project scope.
MODERNISATION WITHIN AN EXISTING FACILITY
When investing in new equipment, how the facility will use the machine is as important as the suitability of the machine itself. Layout, material movement, working areas and utility connections must be assessed within a common plan.
ZENES evaluates equipment selections according to their role within the foundry rather than treating them as separate purchasing decisions. The aim is to define the technical scope, implementation responsibilities and interfaces between systems clearly.
